Fiuhhh…finally I’m released from the bind of mid-term test.

I’m FREEE!!!!!  I’m FrEEEEE!!!!!

Mid-term test for this semester was so exhausting. First, there were 2 take-home exams which, of course, means that they were papers to be done. Anyway, though I had finished far from the due date, even before mid-term, but some tests was really bewildering me :( :( . For example, “Morphology” : The test was about token and type of both derivational and inflectional morphemes, while in the book there is no adequate information about that. But when I  scrutinize again my Morphology book, Oh God!!!! There is. But the explanation about those morphemes are within a black box that is unreadable due to the low printing quality that causes any words within the black box turns to black as well. Nice!!!!!!!!! :( :(

Oh anyway, I’d better tell about my paper. Actually, I wrote one of my papers half-hearted as I was a bit annoyed with some facts about that course. Well, just put it aside. There were 2 courses that required paper for the mid-term test i.e. Academic Writing and Australian Studies.

For Academic Writing, there were many conditions that must be fulfilled since it deals with the academic writing format. The students were only required to write a 5-page article, 1-page abstract in english, 1-page abstract in Bahasa Indonesia, and also 1-page or more for Works Cited. Oh yeah, this article must be written based on MLA style. Despite of MLA, but the margin set by the lecturer differs from MLA standard. Anyway it’s OK.

However, I’m very thankful as I ever took SouthEast Asian studies which required me to write paper in MLA style. Thus, for this semester I almost have no difficulties in writing in such style :D :D :D . Thank you my SouthEast Asian Studies professor !!!!! :D :D . Eh ya, my paper for Academic Writing was entitled Green Living as an Effective Way in Reducing Greenhouse Gases in Indonesia. I took green living as I do like any environmental concerns. Since this article must be argumentative, so I wrote some arguments regarding the effectiveness of green living.

The other paper was required by Australian Studies, a course which is held every Wednesday 6 p.m. For this paper, I wrote in real MLA style paper, from margin, quotation, works cited, etc. Anyway, the title for this course’s paper was Lost Identity as the Impact of Forced-Assimilation: A Case Study of Stolen Generation in Australia. For Australian, “Stolen Generation” must be a familiar term. For any of you who haven’t known what Stolen Generation is, let me give you a brief explanation. Stolen Generations are mix-blood Aboriginal children which were taken away by former white Australian from their Aboriginal family to be given “civilised living”. Mix-blood here means that the parents of these children were from different ethnic background, usually the father is white and the mother is Aborigine.

However, Stolen Generation was part of dark history in Australia. Today’s white Australians give more respect to the Aborigine than the former white.

Anyway that’s all my paper and I hope that there is no accusation of plagiarism. Amin
