What A Week! :) (2)

This post is the resume of the previous one

Bertepatan dengan tidak adanya mata kuliah Translation for Specific Purposes pada hari ini, saya berangkat menuju ITS pada pukul 8 pagi. Sampai di ITS sekitar jam 9.40. Specifically, the competition was held in Despro building. Ini adalah gedung kuliah saya yang dulu, haha. Disana masih sepi peserta. Oh ya, I was in ITS for participating in PEKSIMINAL alias Pekan Seni Mahasiswa Tingkat Regional. I was delegated by my university for competing in Komik Strip branch because it was I who won in Komik Strip of Student Art Week in my university for the same branch.

However, for being delegated by university as a participant was my first experience as well. Previously, I had been delegated twice, but none of them delegated me as a participant. Before delagated in this competition, I was delegated as a scholarship grantee in Jakarta and an adjudicator in IVED held in Malang. Chaotic Day Turns to Memorable Day :)

Hari Kamis, 12 April 2012, tampak cukup buruk bahkan saya anggap hari terkacau saya sampai saat itu, namun pada hari Jum’at ini (13 April 2012) saya menyadari bahwa hari itu membuahkan hasil yang baik

Rabu malam, saya begadang untuk mencari data-data referensi buat paper saya. Data tentang banyaknya / preferensi orang Indonesia untuk menonton TV ketimbang baca koran sangat sulit dicari. Keyword sakti macam apapun agak kurang ampuh untuk menemukannya via Google. Tapi Alhamdulillah akhirnya saya mendapatkan data yang cukup signifikan dari skripsi seorang mahasiswa.

Selain mencari referensi, saya juga diamanahi teman-teman saya untuk mengkompilasikan slide-slide partial dari powerpoint masing-masing anggota. Jadi ya saya kerjakan malam itu mengingat kebanyakan teman saya mengirim e-mailnya pada malam hari. Akhirnya saya baru tidur sekitar jam 1 lebih –> menuju pukul 2 pagi.

Terbangun, saya melihat hape dan SHOCKED!!!!!! gara-gara jam hape menunjukkan pukul 07.17. Gila!!!! Wong-wong omah iki kok yo tego gak onok sing nangikno!!! Padahal saya presentasi di kelas Discourse Analysis yang jadwalnya jam 7.10 itu. Selain itu, karena saya yang mengkompilasikan powerpoint, jadi ya file ppt grup saya HANYA ada di saya. Mengetahui pasti bakal telat, tapi saya kudu presentasi, akhirnya njingkat dari kasur langsung pake celana panjang, memasukkan laptop ke tas, memasukkan kertas-kertas yang dibutuhkan, semprot-semprot parfum, TANPA MAKAN dan langsung continue reading…..

Tear, please don’t drop

E-Nite 2011: Great Performance of “Sinderella”

Last night (Thursday, 15 December 2011) I watched a play held in my campus. The event in which this play was available is known as English Nite 2011. The title of this play was My Name is Sinderella and I Hate My Stepsisters. Considering the name Sinderella, we can directly point to the story of Cinderella. They have the same pronunciation anyway :) . Indeed, the play I saw was adapted from Charles Perrault’s Cinderella.

I was really excited with the drama performance last night since everything looked well-prepared and also well-performed. The stage, the properties, the lightings, and the sounds were well-set. Furthermore, the facial expressiveness of each character, the way each character plays his/her voice’s intonation, and the gesture they made looked so awesome. Alhamdulillah, there was no regret I spent my time to watch it.

The concept of this new version of Cinderella (who became Sinderella) does deconstruct  the original Cinderella in some ways. As suggested by the title “…I Hate My Stepsisters”, it is inevitable that it is not like the Cinderella that we commonly heard. Sinderella, as the main character in the play, has qualities that are considered as bad by people such as wicked, materialism, and arrogant. Sinderella, even, kills her stepsister. On the other hand, the one who can please the prince is Sinderella’s stepsister. Even Sinderella is the one who begs for the prince’s love.

Well, it was such a brilliant deconstruction of the story! Let’s say this play is a feminist version of Cinderella. In this play, the main character is no longer a good girl, but continue reading…..
